Wernher von Braun's gravestone is located in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia. The inscription on the gravestone reads, "Wernher von Braun, Dr. Eng., Rocket Pioneer, March 23, 1912 - June 16, 1977." The design of the gravestone features a model of the Saturn V rocket, the same rocket that von Braun helped design and build for the Apollo missions. The gravestone was designed by artist Paul Calle and was erected shortly after von Braun's death in 1977.
